Iran-backed terrorism hits new heights, U.S. says

Last year, global terrorism backed by Iran showed a "marked resurgence," the State Department's "Country Reports on Terrorism" for 2012 says, and it included attacks in Europe, Africa and Southeast Asia. Iran tops the list of states that sponsor terrorism, the report says, while al-Qaida groups, as they disperse, represent a "more decentralized and geographically dispersed terrorist threat" than in the past.
