Data on more than 2,500 patients with advanced heart failure showed all-cause mortality risk among those treated from 2005 to 2010 was 42% lower than among patients treated from 1993 through 1998. Despite the gains, however, one-third of patients die within three years of diagnosis. The data were reported in Circulation: Heart Failure.
