The Oregon Legislature has approved a bill that would allow most beverage bottles to be included for nickel deposits and make Oregon's bottle-collection system one of the most comprehensive. "It will lead to higher recycling rates for the new containers that are being added and for the other beverage containers as well," said Susan Collins, executive director at the Container Recycling Institute. "It gets us more material. We are generally hopefully that it will generate more material for reclaimers," said Steve Alexander, executive director of the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers.
