Real-time bidding fuels MoPub ad exchange growth

MoPub said its monthly revenue run rate reached the $100 million mark in May. The mobile ad exchange runs 2 billion auctions a day, with ads competing to reach 550 million devices a month, Anthony Ha writes. About 20% of advertisements is coming from real-time bidding through programmatic buying platforms such as AppNexus, Jumptap, InviteMedia and Turn, and despite some worry about that model, many publishers "don't have a huge strategic impetus" to hire their own sales units, CEO Jim Payne says.
