States coordinate their readiness for hurricanes

Emergency officials in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama are meeting this week in Mobile, Ala., as part of their preparation for this year's hurricane season. Louisiana officials say the state has improved its flood-protection system as well as its evacuation and sheltering plans in recent years, but many homes in areas such as Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes would still be at risk if a storm surge approaches 20 feet.
