Diabetes risk declines for girls who lose weight before adulthood

Women who were overweight as girls but not as adults had no higher risk of diabetes than peers who were a normal weight as children, researchers said. The study found that women who reported being overweight as children and young adults and did not lose weight were 15 times more likely to develop diabetes than those of normal weight.
