Study: Heparin-like compounds show promise against malaria

An international team of researchers has discovered heparin-like compounds that bind to the MSP1 protein and can halt the malaria parasite from infecting red blood cells. The researchers said the compounds can serve as the basis for new drugs that can fight malaria.
