MSNBC loses a big chunk of its audience when news breaks

MSNBC, which brands itself as "The Place for Politics," has been hit hard in the ratings by two months of major breaking news. The liberal-skewing network in May lost about 20% of its audience, slipping to fourth behind perennial leader Fox News Network, CNN and HLN. "We're not the place for that," said MSNBC President Phil Griffin, referring to breaking news coverage. "Our brand is not that."
