The role of school leadership in developing quality teachers

Effective school leadership is essential in helping teachers to be effective, suggests Bret Range, an assistant professor of educational leadership at the University of Wyoming. To create meaningful and effective teacher evaluations, he writes in this commentary, school principals must observe teachers in the classroom daily and weekly and provide feedback. Range also writes about the need for school leaders to use teacher evaluations to provide necessary resources for educators -- not as a tool to label teachers' effectiveness.
