AT&T, Michael Kors, Staples and Pep Boys are among those wowing consumers with dazzling high-tech retail spaces designed to spotlight the latest in connected gadgetry. Paul Roth, AT&T president of retail, says the idea behind stylish store demonstrations of Square and Nissan Leaf apps is to "transform the traditional website experience into the physical experience." Other engaging features include an 18-foot interactive video screen and biometric fingerprinting software that gives cashiers access to their registers.
