HHS to launch survey to assess HIPAA audits' efficacy

A notice released by HHS last week confirmed its plan to survey 115 HIPAA-covered entities that were audited last year to assess whether the HIPAA Audit Program has enhanced compliance with the law and improved the protection of patient data. The survey is also expected to help the agency determine how much it costs HIPAA-covered entities to respond to audit-related requests.
