Wis. school districts promote summer school's brain benefits

Some school districts in Wisconsin are urging parents to enroll their children in summer school, citing the benefits of such programs in preventing summer learning loss. In addition, research shows that the programs are helpful in closing achievement gaps among low-income students, said Steve Miller, co-director of a Wisconsin summer-learning program.
