Change to Senate bill would let nuclear count toward goal

An amendment to the Senate's energy bill on Thursday would let utilities build nuclear power plants instead of solar and wind technologies to produce more alternative energy. In markup, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, changed the wording so nuclear power could be subtracted from the baseline requiring utilities to supply 15% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2021.
