4 habits lead to lower heart and death risks

People who did not smoke, ate a Mediterranean diet, exercised and maintained a normal weight had better scores on coronary artery calcium tests and were at reduced risk for all-cause mortality, researchers from Johns Hopkins Hospital reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology. "Of all the lifestyle factors, we found that smoking avoidance played the largest role in reducing the risk of coronary heart disease and mortality," co-author Dr. Roger Blumenthal said.
