Alcohol purchases get more sophisticated

Beer is still the top alcoholic beverage, finds a report from Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, but shoppers are shifting to higher-end beer and buying more wine and spirits. Sales of distilled spirits were up 4.5% in 2012, to $21.3 billion, driven by sales of high-end, super-premium products.
