Common core presents textbook publishers with multiple challenges

The Common Core State Standards are designed to cover fewer topics, but in more depth, and some publishers discussed at a recent conference the challenges they are facing in creating resources to support the standards. Among their concerns is that some states want to continue to teach their own standards besides the common core, which makes designing support materials difficult.
