Whistle Labs, based in San Francisco, developed a dog collar accessory that records activity and may help owners and veterinarians better assess a pet's health, according to company co-founder Ben Jacobs. "Dogs can't speak for themselves," said Jacobs. "This could tell you if something is going very wrong." The accessory works with iPhones, and the company plans to extend compatibility to other devices this year.
