In this blog post, Tom Vander Ark writes about the advantages of a teacher evaluation and pay model in place at a California high school. Under the model, teachers are placed into four categories -- basic, proficient, highly proficient and expert. Student achievement is the basis for teachers' evaluations, but expectations differ based on the teacher and subject, and teachers largely are responsible for submitting their own data.
