Farm bill nears final vote in Senate

The Senate is expected to vote Monday on a farm bill that would overhaul dairy programs and cut funding for food stamps by $400 million a year, out of a budget of $80 billion. The bill would establish insurance in place of direct price support and payments, and specialty crops would receive more funding for research and other initiatives.
