ExxonMobil Chem looks to training, recruitment to boost workforce

ExxonMobil Chemical is working with nine Houston-area organizations and educational institutions to boost training and recruitment for petrochemical jobs. "There are literally thousands of new jobs coming to the Houston area and across the Gulf Coast being created because of what I think of as a tidal wave of new investment created for the chemical industry," said Steve Pryor, president of the company's chemical division. Meanwhile, Chevron Phillips Chemical is using internships, hiring programs and signing bonuses to deal with the staffing challenges brought by the shale natural gas boom.
