BIDMC uses virtualization to provide independent doctors with EMRs

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has deployed virtualization technology to give more than 200 independent doctor practices access to electronic medical records. The project, which caters to practices affiliated but not owned by BIDMC, has allowed the Boston-based organization to trim costs and improve disaster-recovery abilities. Expert collaboration and thorough planning helped the project succeed, but BIDMC also had to overcome data-security issues and other challenges.
