Ohio court building has green roof to help cut costs

The new $111 million Franklin County Courts Building in Columbus, Ohio, is getting a green roof that is expected to help conserve energy and control runoff. The roof will be a mix of small, succulent plants that can endure the sun and the cold without needing much water. Landscaping will be needed only about once per year, and county officials are optimistic the roof will pay for itself in energy savings.
