Survey: Cardiologists assume role in financial decision-making as consolidation continues

Nearly half of cardiology groups are participating in a co-management agreement with a hospital in which "physicians take an active role in managing services -- not just looking at quality, but also at cost," according to the 2013 MedAxiom Provider Compensation & Production Survey. The survey also found that nearly 70% of physician groups are or soon will be employed by a hospital and that compensation increased for 80% of those who integrated with a hospital.
