Panel: Cable needs to make sure its content stands out

Cable networks, for their content to stand out, need to take the time to cultivate hits and ensure shows aren't like broadcast network fare, panelists said at an industry event. Cable needs to be "playing different genres," said David Nevins, president of entertainment at Showtime Networks. He added, "The pressure to be innovative and not copy what other people are doing well makes it hard right now."
