EPA, utility deny seeing PFOA test results for Georgia water

Officials at the EPA and Dalton Utilities deny seeing test results showing levels of the industrial chemical perfluorooctanoic acid in drinking-water supplies in Dalton and Rome, Ga., despite a media report suggesting otherwise. Georgia Public Broadcasting reported last week that internal EPA documents showed preliminary results of one part PFOA per billion, which the EPA considers acceptable. However, stricter standards are in place in Minnesota and New Jersey.
