Debate: Allowing guns on airport property

In this editorial debate, two Georgia lawmakers argue the pros and cons of a recent state law allowing handguns inside the nonsecure areas of airports in the state. "We must balance our individual rights with our collective security," writes U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson, a Democrat who has sponsored a bill to ban concealed weapons in airports nationwide. But state Sen. Mitch Seabaugh argues that such a law targets the wrong people and makes criminals out of law-abiding citizens. "There have been no reported incidents of lawfully carrying citizens committing crimes in airports," he argues.
