Avatars guide recovering patients in response to what they say and more

An avatar, a 3D camera and an exercise video are being used at the San Mateo Medical Center in California to help surgical patients during their rehabilitation. As patients follow the video, the avatar can ask questions -- and in some instances even respond to questions. "Our goal is basically to capture the patient’s state of mind and body," said Ivana Schnur, a clinical psychologist and co-founder of Sense.ly -- the firm that developed the avatar.
