Emerging markets are prime growth areas for connected devices

Markets in Brazil, Russia, India and China are driving sales of connected devices, and will make up 60% of those device shipments next year, IDC says. Shipments are forecast to surpass 1.7 billion in 2014, with tablets and smartphones responsible for $500 billion of the $700 billion shipment value, IDC says. "It is evident that smartphones and tablets have successfully established a strong presence as the second screen, owing to the transformation in usage patterns, device affordability, and, most of all, the comfort of a mobile and digital lifestyle," IDC's Megha Saini said in a statement.
