A holistic approach to managing your life

Rather than striving to attain perfect work-life balance, you should adopt the more holistic approach known as "work-life effectiveness," writes Christine M. Riordan of the University of Denver. You should view your career "as an integral part of life, rather than a separate and obligatory activity," she writes. It's also important to develop your own understanding of success and to set boundaries in your life, she writes.
