N.C. school district adjusts math sequence

Seventh-graders in Guilford County Schools in North Carolina must complete an advanced math course in sixth grade before enrolling in algebra in middle school. Officials have reported that seven middle schools will not offer algebra in seventh grade this school year because of adoption of the Common Core State Standards and low numbers of students qualifying for the advanced course.
