SCAI president: Clinicians must be addressed in EPA radiation guidance

SCAI President Dr. Theodore A. Bass is urging the Environmental Protection Agency to reconsider its radiation protection guidance for X-ray procedures to better address effects on operators and staff members. "[W]e encourage the EPA to focus more on the risks to operators and staff that are involved in these procedures," Bass wrote in a June 3 letter to the agency. "Their radiation safety and the orthopedic injuries that are related need to be considered more thoroughly by the EPA."
