2 health groups to test Watson's use in cancer diagnosis

The Maine Center for Cancer Medicine and New York's Westmed Medical Group will test the potential of IBM's supercomputer Watson to boost care received by cancer patients. Watson, using a database of hundreds of thousands of pieces of medical evidence, patient records and journal articles, will review patient cases and provide diagnosis and treatment suggestions for patients with lung cancer. Physicians at the Maine Center are tasked with providing feedback that will influence the development of the upgraded version of Watson.
