Severe weather presents growing risk to New York City, data show

The administration of Mayor Michael Bloomberg released data showing that New York City is confronted by increasing dangers from higher rainfall, hotter temperatures and more severe storms. By the 2050s, more than 800,000 people in the city will live within the 100-year floodplain, more than twice today's figure, city officials estimate.
