Ukraine to strengthen drug oversight

Ukraine plans to establish a new medical supervision system that will tighten controls over drug production and sales, says Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko. The action is being taken in the wake of concern over the volume of counterfeit drugs entering the market, especially through Internet sales. Hryschenko said authorities had seized almost 8 million packages of substandard or counterfeit drugs in the past three years.
