GlobalStar leverages satellite spectrum in Wi-Fi trials

Satellite provider GlobalStar is testing the potential of using a portion of its wireless spectrum to boost the capacity of adjacent Wi-Fi frequencies. The company, which received a license from the Federal Communications Commission to conduct trials, tested the theory in a Boston office building with equipment from Ruckus Wireless and was able to achieve wider coverage with no additional interference.
