N.Y. students become hometown biographers

Fourth-grade students from three elementary schools in Oneonta, N.Y., participated in a contest to research and write about local historical figures. In its ninth year, the Sally Mullen Local History project teams the Greater Oneonta Historical Society with the schools to focus on a specific aspect of Oneonta's past. This year's theme was about celebrating the lives of local heroes, and awards were given to students for their biographical essays and creative displays.
