Furloughs in Ga. district affect morale, learning time

Teachers in Georgia's Gainesville City Schools will take 10 unpaid days of leave in the next school year -- a decision that teachers have accepted but some say is beginning to affect morale. In fact, some officials note that teacher furloughs have ripple effects throughout school districts, as teachers take pay cuts and have less time to teach students. Officials say furloughs also could deter people from going into teaching and are hard on parents.
