Neb. utility will begin talks for additional wind power

Directors of the Nebraska Public Power District have agreed to begin negotiations for a power-purchase agreement with Midwest Wind Energy, which is proposing to develop a second phase of its wind farm in Broken Bow, Neb. Under the proposed deal, the NPPD would purchase 30 megawatts from the second phase of the Broken Bow project. The utility has an existing contract to acquire 47 megawatts from the project's first phase, which is slated to be operational by October next year.
