Statistics show Groupon is spurring new restaurant business

Nearly half of consumers who buy Groupons and other daily deals for restaurants use them to try eateries they've never visited before and 67% returned for a second, full-price visit, according to data from Technomic. The survey of 5,000 daily deal users also found that 83% recommended the restaurant to friends and family and about one-third wrote online reviews on sites such as Yelp and Zagat.
