Best Western International's descriptor program has generated significant returns in performance for its properties, company President and CEO David Kong said last week. "It's been very successful and exceeding our expectations in terms of performance," Kong said. "We achieved a (revenue per available room) index of 110 in 2012 because of the descriptor program." Kong said the program has also driven growth due to the large number of hotel developers and managers who have expressed interest in converting their properties under one of the company's descriptor categories.
