Buddhist chaplain embraces role in palliative care

Seigan Glassing is a member of an interdisciplinary palliative care team and was trained as a chaplain by the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care. "If I can help bring [the patient] a sense that they are not alone, that they have been heard, that their pain has been understood by another person, I think I've done my job," he said. Chaplains are part of the effort to make end-of-life care more holistic, assisting patients in prioritizing goals and improving their quality of life.
