BYOD security risks can be costly for small businesses, Check Point says

About 80% of small businesses have had mobile-security incidents in the past year, with 45% of small to midsized businesses reporting that accidental data loss and data theft cost them more than $100,000, a Check Point survey said. The survey also found that nearly two-thirds of responding businesses don't manage their information on the personal mobile devices of their employees. "It's not enough to use cutting-edge security technology, you also need to educate your employees on the importance of reporting device loss and mobile data loss," Check Point's Scott Emo wrote in an e-mail.
