Facebook goes green with cool data center

Near-Arctic cold and plenty of hydroelectric power were the draw for Facebook's latest data center, a 290,000-square-foot facility in Lulea, Sweden, near the Arctic Circle. The center also marks the first use of Facebook's server hardware, which it says will be 38% more efficient than servers from traditional vendors.
