Hearing loss linked to increased health risks in older people

Older people with hearing impairment had a 32% higher risk of being hospitalized compared with those with normal hearing, according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. Researchers looked at more than 1,100 individuals 70 and older, and found that those with impaired hearing were more prone to longer periods of illness or injury as well as stress, bad mood or depression.
