IBM supercomputer uses flash memory to simulate mouse brains

IBM has developed a Blue Gene/Q supercomputer that uses 128 terabytes of data storage provided by flash memory devices. Working with Switzerland's Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne and Eidgenoessische Technische Hochschule Zurich, IBM Research came up with a computer that will be used to model the brains of mice, which have about 70 million neurons.
