James Cameron addresses Senate on oceanic research

At a Senate panel Tuesday, Hollywood director James Cameron urged the federal government to continue investing in oceanic research, saying that it is vital to fostering the next generation of biologists and understanding the ocean's role in weather, education and the economy. In 2012, Cameron became one of just three men to reach the bottom of the Marianas Trench in the Pacific Ocean in a solo dive of 35,787 feet aboard the Deepsea Challenger submarine.
