Various proposals vie for place in Senate energy plan

Lawmakers pushing energy proposals are intensifying their efforts after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's, D-Nev., announced his plan to take up energy legislation this summer. Sens. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., Richard Lugar, R-Ind., and Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., are among those unveiling energy measures. Their efforts are on top of a bill advocated by Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M., and the comprehensive climate package by Sens. John Kerry, D-Mass., and Joe Lieberman, I-Conn.
