Going green gives telecoms a leg up in a competitive market

Telecom companies that haven't taken steps to incorporate sustainability into their operating models are at a "competitive disadvantage" in a market that is becoming increasingly environmentally conscious, according to a study by Verdantix. The study assessed 18 European operators against a list of 50 variables and found that the top five performers -- AT&T, BT, Orange, Swisscom and Telefonica -- are more successful at winning contracts due to their ability to communicate a commitment to green technologies to their customers.
