Short sleep results in increased diabetes risk, experts say

Data on 47 participants at risk of developing type 2 diabetes found that those who were sleep deprived had increased insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia risks. The findings presented at the Associated Professional Sleep Societies suggest that sleep deprivation may worsen pre-existing conditions in patients susceptible to type 2 diabetes, experts said.
