Analysis: U.S. to see rise in PE exports from capacity expansions

The onset of North American polyethylene capacity expansions could add more than 6 million tons of the chemical in annual production, according to this analysis. Among the firms introducing PE expansions are Nova Chemicals, Braskem, ExxonMobil Chemical and Chevron Phillips Chemical. U.S. PE exports made up as much as 22% of total sales in the sector last year, according to figures from the American Chemistry Council, and some analysts believe it could be up to 42% by the end of the decade.
